Stop hurting other people, play fair, and remember to always love others!
I wrote The Road Most Traveled - My Journey with People of the Lie because of all the shocking and powerfully tragic changes I have seen in this culture on my journey. The blatant discrimination I experienced early on is minor in comparison to the trends I see today. A great deal of honor, the tenderness and humanity I witnessed throughout my life starting with my profound encounters with Dr. Erich Fromm (The Art of Loving, Escape from Freedom), Dr. Eugene Burdick (author of The Ugly American, Fail-Safe, and The Ninth Wave), and Dr. William Glasser (Reality Therapy), seem to have been lost. Using the narrative of my deeply personal, painful and costly life experiences I have written a book that hopefully and vividly demonstrates the path we are on and offers a profound analysis and insight into these trends. My dream is that the book will touch deeply some fellow travelers. I love the quote by the late President, George H.W. Bush,: "A kinder, gentler nation"; he has always touched me. He dedicated his life to the service of others, which is what I believe we all need to do. One of my other heroes is Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. His quote: “Love is the only way” has always touched me, and also reflects how I believe we all need to live our lives.
When I was a psychology student, I, along with other selected students, was honored to meet in a private class with the social psychologist, psychoanalyst, Erich Fromm. It is an experience I will never forget. I have read all Dr. Fromm's books. One of my favorites was, The Art of Loving. I have always been touched by the quote from the book, "Love is the only sane and satisfactory answer to the problem of human existence."
